It always starts with a song.
Capim. A song by the The Manhattan Transfer. Sung completely in Portuguese. She must have been 3.
Since Capim, there have been thousands of songs, late night needles hitting vinyl, and heavy bass beating car speakers. Somewhere along the way, she learned she had an instrument that she carried everywhere she went. She had a voice. So she started to use it. Writing sad songs in the middle of the night, and stealing moments at her auntie’s baby grand piano. It was all done in her lonesome. Her little secret.
But like all secrets, they become very hard to keep. So hard, that you may just burst. BURST.
And that is exactly what she did.
